Cybersecurity Consulting

FAQ

The U.S. Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency defines cybersecurity as “the art of protecting networks, devices, and data from unauthorized access or criminal use and the practice of ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.”

Our homes and personal devices are more “connected” than ever before, and with every online connection comes the potential for cybercrime. The bad guys are always looking for new ways to get to information that will benefit them in some way, so shoring up your networks and protecting your devices can go a long way toward keeping you from becoming a victim.

I provide cybersecurity consulting as well as hands-on services for personal and professional networks — in other words, I’m able to come into your home or office, review your current network settings and devices, and create a plan for securing them. If you’d like, I can also do all I can to physically and digitally secure your home’s devices from unwanted intrusion. This may include:

  • Updating usernames, passwords, and passphrases;
  • Installing up-to-date software and firmware patches;
  • Running or installing the latest operating system, web browsers; and security software;
  • Installing firewalls and backing up data;
  • Adjusting security options from factory defaults;
  • Removing unnecessary software and services;
  • and much more!

I’d also like to coach you and your family on the best ways to maintain your personal cybersecurity and what steps to take to ensure continued security in your home. If you’d like, you can contract my services on an ongoing basis so I can make scheduled updates and installations for you.

Glad you asked! I created a quick online assessment for just this purpose. Click here to test your knowledge!

Yes! Like personal cybersecurity services, engagements for businesses begin with an initial consultation and include a wide variety of hands-on services and ongoing attention. I can customize a package for your business based on my findings and recommendations. I’m also available to train your employees and management teams on professional and personal cybersecurity best practices.

My training is science and research-based; it’s also human-centered. The focus of my training programs is to provide your organization cutting-edge techniques — not old standards that have been proven ineffective. I know that every learner and organization is unique, so I initially perform a “Company Culture Composition” to assess and identify your organization’s needs first so I can tailor our training to your organization’s culture.

I accept all major credit cards. If you are booking a multi-part consulting session, you may be eligible for a payment plan.

Great question! I encourage curiosity and the only way to find answers is to ask questions. If you ever have any questions, feel free to contact me at help@lakeidrasmith.com or submit your question to our contact form. I will respond to your message within two business days.

Let me give you the peace of mind that you’re protected.
